Why choose a Private Midwife?
Choosing a private midwife gives you something that can be difficult to achieve in standard maternity care: continuity, comfort and a deeply personal connection.
Instead of meeting a different face at every appointment, you are cared for by a midwife who truly gets to know you - your story, your medical history, what makes you laugh, your hopes and worries, how you drink your tea and, most importantly, the kind of birth you are dreaming of. Over time, this relationship grows into one of trust, familiarity and reassurance.
At Beautiful Birth Club, I offer warm, personalised, evidence-based midwifery care throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. I take the time to truly listen, to hold space for your questions, and to gently guide you as you make informed, confident choices about your care.
Whether you are planning a home birth or a hospital birth, a water birth, VBAC or C-section, having a known trusted midwife by your side can bring a sense of calm, safety and advocacy. You are never just a number. You are seen, heard, and supported every step of your way into motherhood.
"If continuity of care were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it.”
John H. Kennell MD

Why Continuity of Care Matters
Continuity of care is about more than seeing a familiar face. It allows a trusting relationship to develop between you and your midwife throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
Clinical research supports the substantial benefits of this model of care. A 2024 Cochrane review involving more than 18,000 women found that women receiving midwife continuity of care were more likely to have a vaginal birth and less likely to have a C-section than women receiving other types of care. Women also generally reported more positive experiences of their care.
Continuity of care means knowing you - your history, your pregnancy, your preferences and what matters to you. It makes all the difference when your midwife knows you this well, from your birth options to your favourite biscuit. You don't have to keep re-telling your story, and when the time comes for you to give birth, you are lovingly supported by someone with whom you have already built a relationship of trust.
That relationship allows me to provide care that is not only clinically safe and evidence-based, but genuinely personal.

The Benefits of Continuous Support During Labour
Continuity throughout pregnancy matters, and so does having dedicated support when labour begins. A Cochrane review of 26 trials involving almost 16,000 women found that continuous one-to-one support during labour was associated with a range of positive outcomes for women and babies.
The research found that women receiving continuous support were more likely to have spontaneous vaginal birth, less likely to have a caesarean section or instrumental birth, used less pain relief and had shorter labours. Women were also less likely to report negative feelings about their birth experience.
✔️ 25% reduction in caesarean births
10% lower likelihood of instrumental birth
8% more likely to have spontaneous vaginal birth
41 minutes shorter labour on average
10% reduction in use of pain relief

Having Julia as our midwife is the best decision we've ever made for this pregnancy! Julia is lovely, caring and professional giving us lots of confidence. It's more than just peace of mind but also advice and practices to cope with the unknown. We had a beautiful and smooth birth at the end. I can't recommend Julia's service enough!

Having Julia there to support my labour and birth made such a difference. I had complete trust in her and was able to switch off from everything else....The outcome was a wonderful birth for my first child and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! We will definitely be requesting Julia to be our midwife again when we have our second baby!

Having Julia as our midwife was the best money we have ever spent. She has been midwife for both of our births and the prenatal care, labour and postnatal care was outstanding. She made both me and my husband feel calm, confident and safe throughout the whole process. She is kind, caring and was very attentive throughout. We cannot recommend her services enough. We cannot thank her enough

What Mothers Say About Beautiful Birth Club
One of the loveliest parts of being a private midwife is the beautiful bonds that grow along the way. It's always such a joy to hear from families and to know that their time with Beautiful Birth Club has become a special part of their story. I am very proud to have all 5 star reviews on both Google and Trustpilot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A few favourite thoughts on birth, motherhood and the extraordinary strength of women.
"The parallels between making love and giving birth are clear, not only in terms of passion and love, but also because we need essentially the same conditions for both experiences: privacy and safety.”
Sarah Buckley
“There is power that comes to women when they give birth. They don’t ask for it, it simply invades them. Accumulates like clouds on the horizon and passes through, carrying the child with it.”
Sheryl Feldman
“Having a highly trained obstetrical surgeon attend a normal birth is analogous to having a pediatric surgeon babysit a healthy 2-year-old.”
Marsden Wagner
“Many women have described their experiences of childbirth as being associated with a spiritual uplifting, the power of which they have never previously been aware … To such a woman childbirth is a monument of joy within her memory. She turns to it in thought to seek again an ecstasy which passed too soon.”
